It’s been the hottest controversy of Spain Basketball Team. A group picture that others think it was an offensive act for Chinese. The picture was taken just for fun and a proof that they had played at Beijing Olympics. Nothing more and purely just for fun.

Here’s a short statement: “It was something like supposed to be funny or something, but never offensive in any way,” said Spain centre Pau Gasol, who also plays for the Los Angeles Lakers. “I’m sorry if anybody thought or took it the wrong way and thought that it was offensive.” , “We never intended anything like that”.

Spain may mean nothing from the photos but not all people around the world see it that way. It is what we call cultural diversity and there are traits that other don’t understand especially in an oriental place. With those acts, Spain was surprised by the remarks of racism. Spain is not a racist country - quite the opposite. But I guess it’s a lesson for all of us especially for the Basketball Team of Spain.
