I’ve been touched so deep while watching the i-witness Batang Langoy episode. The story is very unique, we may always see TV Programs that features children walking around 5 kilometers just to go to their schools. This time Jay Taruc, the host of GMA5 i-Witness featured the children from the Magalumbi Island of Iloilo that swims around 1kilometer away from their school every day.

I can’t imagine myself doing like that everyday because it is to risky and needs true effort. I always thank God for the blessing that he gave to me each day. And I can say that I am so blessed for what I am today. Anyway, let’s go back to the children. Every time when they sense that there’ll be no boats to fetch them back to the Island. First thing they do is to dig and bury their things under the shore sand including their shoes, uniform, bags and books. The results they have nothing to study at home because they will eventually swim home for 1 Kilometers and around 20 feet deep.

In the following day, they woke up early once they hit the beach, they quickly dig up their books and rush their assignments before getting to school. The children from Magalumbi Island is very inspiring and you can actually see in their eyes, the eagerness to learn. I’ve been touched by the story and from now on and soon if I’ll get a good and stable job i will promise that I will at least sponsor one student to finish college. So that poverty will have its end.
